why does it seem like my braking power is way less when using dual-axis versus
combined?  just wondering...car brakes so much better in combined mode so
that's what i've left it at

  Probably because when you "start" to brake with combined, you are also
negating the throttle.  With separate axis, the brake motion has no
effect on the throttle and so you are probably braking against a certain
ammount of residual throttle.  
  Can't prove it...but it sounds right.

Or it could be the problem I have with my TM Nascar Pro.  If I don't
hold the brake down slightly when SCGT starts, it fails to recognize the
brake pedal at all, and I only have engine braking - not good ;).
Don't know if it's a TM problem, DX, or SCGT problem.
