Here is what I noticed about the control options:
The available axes are labelled X,Y, and Z (with + and -
directions for each). These correspond to JoyA X-axis,
JoyA Y-axis, and JoyB X-axis.
JoyB Y-axis doesn't seem to be supported in the demo.
Only the first three axes are available. I sure hope
that is corrected in the final version.
Many people commented that when they try to assign controls,
immediately after hitting a keyboard control, the joystick
control is assigned to Z-. Try holding your third axis
control halfway depressed, and you'll notice that it
will wait on you to enter a control input.
Here's why:
SCGT demo only seems to support joystick settings that center
in the middle (like steering or single-axis pedals). It
doesn't seem to support a dual axis setup where the pedal
is calibrated starting at one end of the range. My pedals
are set up on the JoyB X and Y axes. When assigning a control,
if I hold my gas pedal halfway down, it doesn't immediately
assign Z- anymore. At the point where it's asking for a
joystick input, if I lift off the pedal, it assign Z-, and
if I push the pedal all the way, it assigns Z+.
The whole thing is bizarre and needs to be re-thought.
