related to the current state of online racing and where it will be going.
I raced on TEN for only a short time (and only the free demo area), but
one thing that I immediately miss is the ability to chat before and after a
race. It seems like a small thing, (and I am generally a pretty quiet
person) but it was a nice way to form races, discuss the race after it
was over, or just pass the time will waiting for a good race to form, etc.
I don't understand why Papyrus did not add some kind of chat window
to the multiplayer screen (and use the matching server for a chat
server as well) specifically for this purpose.
Also, with TEN, it was a central place for all online racing and usually
a lot of the same people could be found there at any one time.
I am not defending TEN by any means, you can hardly argue with
FREE multiplayer racing and so far I am impressed with the new
release of N3.
I was just wondering what others thought, and if anybody knows
of any plans in the works for some fast servers popping up
anytime soon.
Also I was wondering if anybody has tried hosting races with a DSL
connection. How many cars could you host reliably? The manual
says something like 22k per car. Does that mean upload or
download speed, or both? How would this apply to a DSL line
with 768k download and 128k upload? Anybody have any
experience with this?
Thanks,
Brad
