NL Online vs N3 Online

Does anyone know if there is any difference between the Multiplayer coding
of Nascar Legends and Nascar 3?  The reason I'm asking is because I have
both, and I've raced online with both.  I don't have an ideal setup for
racing online, I only have a 56K modem.  In Nascar 3, I get a lot of clock
zaps.  Almost enough to say the heck with online racing.  But I'm stil
trying.

Now Legends is a different story.  I've only been racing online with it for
about 3 nights, but the connections a way better.  I rarely get clock zaps,
and the opoonents don't zig zag accross the track (they do in N3).  I'm
having a blast with NL online, but getting frustrated with N3.

I'm just trying to figure out why.  Off the top, the only things that come
to mind are:

1.  Better multiplayer code
2.  Better bandwidth because not too many races are being hosted with NL

NL just seem better.  Any ideas why?

Frank,

Charlie specifically asked, when Jacob set up his news server, that we
did not cross post his messages elsewhere. Strange behavior for a
super genius.

This one is fine.  Thanks for the concern.

I am interested in getting feedback about performance of NASCAR Legends
compared with NASCAR Racing 3 online,  please send comments to

Charlie

Frank, citing your behavior as strange for a man of such high
intellect is hardly a flame, more like a rib. <G>

There is no rule against belching in public either but it's still
considered impolite. When someone specifically asks that you not do it
then it is even more out of line.

You didn't affect my life since Charlie wasn't offended and therefore
will hopefully continue to keep us informed on that other public
newsgroup.

That's absolutely true.  Below is a message from a public Nascar Legends
newsgroup by Charlie Heath, Papyrus employee.  I figure it is appropriate to
the question you asked.  Please note that you can speculate that the
improvements in NL will be present in Nascar Racing 3 in the future also :

------------------
I'll appreciate any feedback people have about NASCAR Legends, particularly
related to multiplayer play.

We're using some new packet protocols and security features in NASCAR
Legends that should work better than those we've used in past versions of
this codebase, but we'll need comments from the field to know if we're on
target or not.  We would also like feedback about the standalone server
included in NASCAR Legends.

I wouldnt worry about it Tracey, Charlie already posted a similar

Err...  Tracey Im sorry I affected your life to the point to flame me
(another time for no reason) <vbg>

It's not like I did something bad.  Jacobb's server is a public place, and I
quoted the words from Charlie, since I felt it would be beneficial.  There
is nothing wrong in that.  If I offended Charlie Im sorry, but I apologize
to him, not you.  And there is no "rule" that you cannot cross-post a
message.  He is on a free Usenet server who runs newsgroups that only appear
on his server, that's all.

Yeah, well notice my sarcasm also above ;)

Ah, the thing is I didn't find it impolite at all, considering cross-posting
when done in an appropriate way is benefitial, especially a message
cross-posting to 2 newsgroup showing the same interest. It's not like I
cross-posted it to alt.binaries.***a.centerfolds  and sci.bio.botany you
know ;-D
