Full length Nurburgring, only 3 cars DNF'd ... not including mine.  Thumbs up
for improved AI, thumbs down for too few mechanical retirements.

It did overwrite Frentzen's veh file (some number sequence followed by .veh).
All it changed was the spelling of his name.  I'll try changing it back to see
what it does.

Greg,
Big improvement in the AI performance, but I don't get any of the FF
improvement that Pat is talking about I'm afraid.

Can't speak for damage per se, but I overcooked my tires after 30 laps at
N-ring yesterday.  Spun right around multiple times before I could
pit, and cashed in my 35 sec. lead.  Seems I'm gonna start having to pay
attention to this, now that I have the patch!  ;-)

It's an "unofficial" patch, not a hack...It won't be "official" until EA posts
it.  Would you prefer to wait?  ;)

Official = EA
Unofficial = ISI

Difference >> Time

Cheers!

OK that is great. But how do you know it is official? Everyone says
there is nothing within the patch indicating where it came from.

Yes, I can feel the tires starting to wear after about 6 laps
or so.

I've got the damage showing again. I disabled mipmapping and got the
various colours to show damage back. Don't know why mipmapping would
break that, but that's all I changed.

Well, I haven't tried it yet myself (it's downloading right now) but from
what I've read it really sounds like someone having access to the source
code must have been involved with it. It sounds like a bit much for someone
with a disassembler to have worked out by now. Plus, it came uncredited and
secretly. SOme hacker would almost certainly have left some calling card,
at least, something like "super f1 2000 update brought to you by
the DarkWhales" or whatever.
Everything points to legit from what I've read.

It is from ISI.  EA is taking a long time
to approve its' release, though.  Luckily,
a pre-release version of the patch is
available to us now.

Try setting "Mechanical Failures" in the Rules pages to 2x or more.  I don't have the patch, but it
sounds like the better AI and less stupid mistakes more than makes up for less failures (that we can
fix easily).

Now I'll have to restart my season and hope I come in better than 17th at Albert Park with the AI at
115%.  LOL.

Jason.

Well does your team manager still call out the individual driver
names like before? BriGuy said that he was getting the Team
name instead of the driver name. Not really a big deal but did
the patch change this or was something porked on his installation?

Someone pointed out - as I suspected - that changing Heinz-Harald
Frentzen's name in the Vehicles folder (file: J05gpxa) from Heinz-
Har*o*ld alters it back to the correct way.

Hmm...I'll have to go check it to be sure, but I seem to remember
still getting the individual driver names. I turned off mipmapping and
I have the damage colours back Have to check that too because I don't
see why mipmapping would alter that feature. A nice feature of this
patch is that you can choose how many cars to race against which can
improve the frame rate quite a lot.

My J05gpxa file says 'Heinz-Harald Frentzen' - the patch didn't change it -
and the guy still says 'the jordan driver'.  The J05gpxa file in the patch
zip file doesn't have Har*o*ld. Am I missing something here?
