Nascar: Control Method?

Nascar: Control Method?

by Andy Gart » Thu, 24 Aug 1995 04:00:00

Hello all,

I'm controlling Nascar via a (Gravis Pro) joystick and keyboard and am
interested in how people have this setup configured.  I originally had
the two fire buttons set up for accellerate and brake, but have now
gone to using the joystick Y-axis for these actions.  This gives me
much improved throttle control at the cost of a slight reduction in
steering accuracy.  My initial thoughts are that this is an
improvement.

What do others think (and do they care?!?)?

I've been using a small hand held joystick. I believe its a Mach I.  I use
one button for braking.  Steering, gas and reverse are all done using the
joystick.  It took awhile to get use to, but now I can hang with the best
of them.  By using the stick for acceleration, I can ease back on the gas
at the short tracks with getting loosing control out of the corners.
I really like my joystick, but I finally broke down and ordered a
Formula T1.  It should get here on Tuesday.  I can't wait.
