Reactor and GP2

Folks,

Does anyone have news on how the Reactor works with GP2? Although a
great looking version of ICR2 would be nice, I've become quite attached
to GP2's sound and driving model, and don't want to risk losing the
barely-acceptable performance I currently have. anyone out there with
insight?

Thanks,

Glen

Glen,

What's up?? I have the Reactor. It's slightly slower in GP2. It was faster with
the Matrox..

take care

How would you define "slightly slower" in terms of framerates? On my
p150 overclocked to 166, I'm seeing about 17 fps suggested with no sky,
everything else textured and nothing relevant in the mirrors. This is
with a cheap ATI Mach64. If the framerate hit from the Rendition is
small, I'd be willing to do it, but I'm concerned by someone's earlier
post that their framerate fell from 22 on a P6 with a Matrox to 11 with
the Rendition. Was the drop as dramatic for you as well?

thanks

Gleb

I heard a rumor that Intergraph was looking to see if they could do us
all a BIG favour, and get GP2 going faster than ever...but rumours
abound,so who knows..

My frame rate got about 5fps FASTER in SVGA GP2.

Hi Mike!

What Video Card did you have before?

My frame rate went up also using SVGA mode for GP2 using the
Intergraph card.

With the Reactor 3d I have noticed a significant improvement in frame
rate with GP2. My old card was a Lightspeed PCI card and my system is a
Cyrix 686 166+. I do not know how to determine frame rates with GP2 (the
figures given on the Graphics Selection menu seem to have little to do
with what you see in the game) but I know now that I can run Monaco with
all details on forward except track & sky textures with Processor
Occupancies peaking at around 145% (right around s/f line with 3 or 4
cars running ahead). At the race start the P.O.s are much higher of
course but back way down once past the first turn. On some sections of
the track I am running well below 100% P.O.. I was actually turning on
textures (in the mirrors) to slow down the frame rate at Japan tonight
(at 70% P.O. things tend to happen a bit too fast for me).
This is a HUGE improvement over what I had before though I admit that
my old card wasn't very good

Reactor and GP2

I have a p166, 32 mb, and I have tried GP2 with a Stealth64 video 3200,
a Dynamite 128, and a Reactor. Video log score was 350, 525, and 150
respectively. But this did not translate into anything significant in
the game itself. I don't know jow that video log score is obtained, but
it is worthless as a benchmark.
Frame rate went from 18.6 to 21.6 to 11, with just essentials details
on. Again this was not reflected significantly in the game itself. The
verite ( reactor ) was not noticeably slower.
The bottom line is what others have been reporting before. The video
card does not make much of a difference, and certainly those video log
scores don't mean zilch.

Guy Brosseau      just love MONZA, but still stuck at 1:23.5
