Depends on what the meaning of "is" is.

I think I'll drop my two cents in....I have spent most of the last 25 years
within 10 miles or so of RIR and attended many races there (until it got
turned in an empty mall). I wasn't a big NASCAR fan so most of the time we
went to the sports car events, that is probably why the "NASCAR Line" thru
the esses was so noticeable to me. Watching from the turn 6 stands it was
obvious that a number of the NASCAR guys made little or no attempt to stay
on the pavement (especially #43, of course the King makes his own lines
<g>). I don't remember any with 4 wheels in the dirt at turn 6, not on
purpose anyway.

I guess that doesn't really help does it?

Three thirds of a second is one second. I think you meant 3 halves of a
second.

Well that is correct he said it and also I think he is wrong.  I have
watched quite a few Nascar races at the old Riverside luckily since ABC
used to have it on the schedule.  Well yes in a large group somone***
forced off the track almost everylap in the esses.  Cutting turn 6 I do not
remember unless it was followed by a large bang on hte outside wall of turn
six.  these cars are big heavy and handle like ***so yes they kickec up a
lot of dust thru the esses, but the drivers were infact trying like hell to
drive thru the esses.  the fact Papy decided to model it the way they did
just flat screws up online racing that is all.  Well I have not online
raced in a while due to time and will probly not mess about with it even
tho that is the way all games are going.  Its a shame the Papy had to do
that but they did, and they seem to validate idiots reasoning to drive the
course that way.  Well Nascar rules of that day were also if you were not
special you would get black flagged also so the person who invited Ymernard
no to race in his league was right also.

This is the same thing as saying that script-kiddies should be able to
hack into net servers and do as much damage as they can simply because
it's possible to do so.

Different song, same dance.

Give it a rest dude.  You've been spouting off about how it's okay to do
simply because Papy gave us the capability to do it that way.  It's been
over a week and you're still spewing the same crap.

I haven't flamed you. I've merely stated my intention to keep you out of
races on my server.

What the hell are you talking about, and what exactly do other sims have
to do with sportsmanship?

I guess you missed it, and I'm not gonna bother repeating myself.

Cool.

Don't compare me to a script-kiddy John.  That's an *** to me and
the community.  I take it very wrongly and won't accept such things <g> ;)

Because if so your also a troll...

Pot, Kettle, Event Horizon.

Give it a rest dude (dude??). You've been spouting off about how it's not
okay to do simply because you think it is not good.  It's been over a week
(well not really) and you're still spewing the same crap.

So like you said John, give it a rest.  People know that I will never stop,
you will have to do it first.  Call it having an ego, and I'll agree with
you.

You accused me of not being a Gentleman, having no morals or ethics of
racing, and publicly said that you muzzled me.  Which I find very offensive
because all those things are totally untrue.

I am not going around the rules, I am simply doing what Papyrus has gave us.
If you want to go that far, why don't you accuse people who race with the
arcade view ??? Because Papyrus give them the tool to do that (which in
real-life they cannot), for your eyes it's ok but what I do is not ?  In NL
be sure that you have a clear advantage using that view.

----
So the point is : Your grey zone is not my grey zone.  The grey zone I use
is the grey zone that Papyrus gave us.  I am a fast driver and I'll do
anything to be fast, at the extention of being dangerous for me and other
drivers online. That's as far as I go, If what I do is dangerous for others
I will stop doing this.

I was assuming three-thirds meant 3/2  (3/2 was what I was trying to
express).  Looks like it was tree-seconds or something like that. ;-)

Enfin, je voulais dire trois-demie ;)

Actually the analogy works better in reverse. What John is doing is
similar to yelling at his friends for hacking into a website which was
set up for the purpose of being hacked into.

The line the AI run is the "preferred line". All the AI does is run
laps that were recorded by Papyrus. The only question here is whether
or not Papyrus is correct, not whether or not Frank's driving is
immoral.

Yeah, that's a good one Tracey. Paraphrase---"Since it's easy to do, it
makes it ok."

Preferred line? Of course it's the preferred line--in fact it's a
straight line. Just because it's "preferred", doesn't make it correct. I
would "prefer" to go straight as well, but it's wrong. So guess what? I
have scruples, and race the track the way it was intended to be. Not the
way that's the easiest.

Personally I can't see how Papyrus is right. Even with their lame
press release referring to that fact that "everyone did it, so should
you". It's plain and simple wrong---the AI totally ignores the way the
course goes, and picks this "preferred line" you keep talking about.
Like I said earlier, when the new generation of NASCAR comes from Papy,
and the walls are removed from courses like Sears, and The Glen, are the
AI and other drivers going to cut the chicane because it's "easier", or
a "preferred line"? What about turn 11 at Sears, Might as well cut it
early, I mean it's easier and quicker that way right? It's just a shame
that Papy obviously needs to keep these walls in, and add a few maybe to
stop this***poor excuse for sportsmanship.

> Yeah, that's a good one Tracey. Paraphrase---"Since it's easy to do,

No, I'm refering to sites which are set up for the sole purpose of
testing security. Microsoft set up a web server recently and dared
people to try and break into it. Someone did it in one day, was
that "immoral"?

 It's just a shame

NASCAR has human officials to prevent poor sportsmanship. Unless John
wants to sit and officiate all of the races on his server, I'd suggest
he take his argument up with Papyrus and ask for a black flag option
for when ever someone gets 4 tires off the course.

It could be set up on the host with all the other options. Instead of
arguing how it should be or how it was in 1970, lets ask Papyrus to
give us the choice.
