MBTR Demo - 5 fps on Voodoo2...why?

by tamp » Sun, 16 Jul 2000 04:00:00

I have the same problem, voodoo2 and p2-266.... what has improved framerate
while racing is hit F8 to turn off the 2d overlay screen thingie, and hit
escape and turn view distance all the way down. At some parts of the track
the framerate hits 40 fps and feels fine, but whenever a 2d sprite has to be
drawn, the fps drops down to almost nothing. (for example hit the brakes to
make the brake lights go on, and you lose about 20 fps.

I was getting about 5 fps with a V3/3000 until I killed the hi-res textures.

Well, one of your problems may lay in is that in the options menu u selected
the 24bit render laying mode.  I am not talking about the resolution, but an
option on the panel.  if disabling that, it should greatly help.  and the
test machine of the developers are p2 333's with a tnt2 so system specs
shouldn't be a problem

I got this at first as well using the generic d3d rasteriser. Try the voodoo
banshee.

MS (getting 18 fps on a P200MMX and V2 card)

MBTR Demo - 5 fps on Voodoo2...why?

by Larr » Sun, 23 Jul 2000 04:00:00

This game is going to require a LOT more than a V2/P266.

I've got an 800 and a GeForce DDR and pretty much have to run 800X600.

There is a real lack of sensation of speed with this game.

That's a shame.  Other than that, and the lack of a dash view, it's
quite nice and, for a change, different!

Well, the trucks are limited to 100mph and you do sit high above the road,
so I'd be surprised if you got any feel of speed (except when you misjudge a
corner <g>). The readme promises a dash view in the full game.

BTW: I get reasonable 800X600 on a PIII-450MHz and a single V2. Life is
unfair, isn't it?
