I have a 200L Mhz Cyrix system, 32 Meg edo ram , Diamond Monster 3dfx ,
it is slide show city even on lower resolution settings.  Any other
Cyrix owners having the same dramas? will be interested to hear from you
, I also read here that F1rs (ubisoft) has the same problem when run on
a Cyrix system, any IDEAS folks ?
fixes?

Yep,

I was initially running it on a P166+ with Righteous 3d, 32mb and it
crawled in medium res, low detail. It runs perfect on a P166MMX
(overclocked to 188) in hi res, very high detail. Steering response is
also improved. Guess its the old floating point problem?

I had exactly the same problem. I thought it was my ATI Rage card so I
invested in an Orchid Righteous.

To put it simply I was extremely disappointed. I checked it on similarly
specced K6 and Intel machines and it is a completely different game - smooth
and you can use the joystick too!

I must be the old floating point problem. I took it back and exchanged for
F22ADF - much better.

I e-mailed Codemasters a few times, but in 3 weeks nothing.

Daft, just plain daft.

Fixes - get an Intel 166MMX and overclock to 233. :-)

I think not. Like I posted before, I use a P166, Righteous 3D and 64MB
and I'm running highest detail, no jerkiness. Strange differences in
performance that people are getting with roughly the same setup. Might be
worth posting something to Codemasters tech support for comment ?

I have to vouch for this one: I just upgraded from a Cyrix 200+ to an
Intel
P233, and the 3D performance improvement was unbelievable. NFS2 went
from
unplayable on the lowest screen and detail settings to silky smooth at
full
screen, full detail. I saw similar improvements in Screamer2 and Quake.
You can pick up an older Pentium fairly cheaply these days, might be
worth
a look.
