T2 joystick ports

Excuse me if I sound stupid but I have been reading a lot on the T2
posts as I am about to buy one, but I am a little confused.
The posts are all saying that you put the wheel in one port and the
pedals in the other. The reason I am writing this is that I don't know
how many joystick ports I have. I have a soundblaster sound card that
has a joystick port (I am using this one), however I have another port
that is the same shape (not on the soundcard) that does not seem to
work as a joystick port (tested with win95 and fifa96; Have I done
something wrong??).
My question is: do I need to buy another port (if possible) or does
this second joystick SHAPED port actually accept the T2 wheel/pedals??

No, your Soundblaster does indeed have two ports.  Well actually it has
a single port, but it accepts two inputs (thats why Y-cables work).  The
wheel and pedals dasiy-chain into a single plug that has the outputs of
two joysticks.  The wheel is the x-axis of Joy1 and the pedals are the
x-axis of Joy2.  There is an adapter (included with the T2) that places
the pedals on the Y-axis os Joy1.

If I'm not mistaken, you will need to use this to get the Win95 Joystick
Control Pannel to recognize the T2.  I don't have the adapter, so I
can't get Win95 to recognize mine, but my gamepad calibrates with no
problems.  I think it is because of the missing Y-axes.

I'm not sure.  I've heard it said the with the adapter, you can't use
the gas and feather the brake at the same time.  I've never tried it
with the adapter, but I don't see why it would be any different that
without it.

With full gas applied, touching the brake is esentially equlivient to
lifting on the gas.  To test this, just go to the calibration screen.
Pressing the gas should make the pointer go to the full extent of the
right side of the x-axis.  When the brake is applied, the pointer will
shift back towards the center.  When both pedels are fully pressed, the
pointer will return to the center position as if neither was being
pressed.  With the pedals of the Joy2 X-axis transplanted to Joy1 Y-axis
through the adapter, I don't see why this would be any different.

Perhaps someone using the adapter can try this as well, and report their
findings.

I haven't performed this actual test, but I have gone from using the adapter
to not using it, back to using it (long story, let's just say that NFS is
involved) and I haven't seen *any* difference in my lap times.

Putting shifter buttons on the spokes of my T2 wheel has helped me shave a
second from my best on two road courses.  Woooooo!!!!  And the solder burns
have almost healed!

Hi Alex,
you don't need a second game port. There is a y-piece at the cable of
the pedal set, where you can connect the steering wheel. This cable
can be connected to the game port. I also use the game port at the
soundblaster card and it works fine. I bought my T2 a few day ago and
I like it. By the way I have made some modifications and I think they
are a great improvementl. I fixed the plates of the gas and brake
pedal and I mounted two gear shift buttons on at the wheel. Now the it
works very well.

Does the single-joystick adapter lessen performance in some way? I
presently don't use it, but am encountering games that require it...

Thanks
