The movie "LeMans" seems right up there with "Grand Prix".
There seems to be more racing and less acting (don't get me
wrong, I still think GP is an EXCELLENT movie).

Coming up this weekend on Speedvision is what 'may' be considered the
best racing movie made.  One only has to look at the sheer number of
similiar movies made after this one, one that even crosses genre's into
air racing.  Yes all the Gumball Rallies, the Cannonball Runs, even the
Wacky Racer cartoon show owe a debt of gratitude to:
"Those Daring Young Men in their Jaunty Jalopies."

The best racing movie is cannonball.

With Roger Moore, Burt Reynolds, jackie Chan, Dom DeLuise, Sammy Davis Jr,
Dean Martin, farrah fawcett.....and the doctor

Nope anyone who has watched the Gumball Rally knows its a better movie
about the CannonBall Rally.  A Cobra and a Daytona doing full speed scenes
in the mountains and in the LA river.  All they did for CAnnon Ball was
speed up the tape.

While not a racing movie, "Bullitt" is worth seeing for what is probably the
best movie car chase scene.  Sure, its no "Grand Prix" or "LeMans", but its
really worth a look if you haven't seen it.

McQueen did finish second in the, IIRC, 1970 Sebring 12 hour. Peter
Revson did most of the driving as McQueen had a broken foot. The story
I've heard is that Mario Andretti's Ferrari 512S broke down so he took
over the highest placed team car and overtook Revson to win. He didn't
want McQueen, an actor, to have bragging rights!

Well Andretti was leading when his car went out.  While he was getting
ready to leave the Team manager offered him the car to drive.  I would have
beaten Revson anyway, but he was also a bit miffed that REvson was doing
all the driving and McQueen was getting all the credit.  On McQueen's best
day he could not match Revson much less Andretti and he was still getting
all the credit gimp leg and all.  Andretti was running laps under the Qual
pace with a car he had not driven before then and he was too small for
since the regular drivers we taller then he was.  All in all I have to
agree with Mario that it was a truely great drive.

Also Revson finished second, and McQueen just happened to have spent some
time in the car the minimum to be listed as a driver of the car.

The Movie is a great one and if you have not seen you should.
