Help!!!! How can I get this to work? Opengl gives an awful framerate and
messedup mirrors. I can't get the Unified Drivers to work with the glide
version!! Can anyone help?

You'll need to do some adjustments. First of all, you should change the
mirror update frequency in your core.ini file. I use MirrorsEvery = 8. The
mirrors becomes totally useless, but hey, they are useless anyhow with your
Geforce.

You also shoud reduce detail levels. No smoke etc. Only cars in mirror etc.

It's really a shame that the Geforce doesn't handle GPL very well. My old
Voodoo Banshee outperformes my Geforce Pro in this game.

With some tweaking you should be able to get nearly constant 36 FPS, except
for on the starting grid, where you should expect fps in the twenties.

hmmm... I think it should be "it's really a  shame that GPL doesn't handle
the GeForce very well".
Papy has been saying that the nVidia drivers don't handle mirrors very
well... But why is GPL the only game with these problems then? Nascar3 (by
the same creator for heavens sake), RC2000 all do a great job with the
mirror graphics...

I think that if Papy really wanted they could make a excellent OpenGL or D3d
patch... But why should they? GPL is over a year old and can hardly be found
in stores anymore, if they would make such a patch it will cost them quite
some time to get it done... and what will it get them? Nothing... They won't
make money out of it... Only of the few people that buy GPL from the 'cheap
games' box from some big gameshops... Papy/Sierra will hardly make any
profit from that... So better just to put that time that they are going to
'waste' on this patch into making other sims.

I am going to get myself a GeForce at the end of the month... there are a
lot of great sims coming out in 2000 like GP3, Worlds Sports Cars, F1 2000
and that's only the tip of the iceberg... I can buy myself a Voodoo 3 so I
can run GPL but why not get a GeForce instead so I can run GP3, WSC etc. as
fast as possible? If these great games come out I won't be playing GPL
anymore anywayz...

So GPL has been fun for me but now it's time to move on and think about the
future... There are new games coming our way and it's time to get my
hardware up to date for that... Rather buy some new thingies every month
instead of having to spend lots a money in one time when GP3 and WSC hit the
shelves.

Buying a Voodoo3 now to run GPL will only make GP3, WSC and other upcoming
games run slower as it would with a GeForce, the GeForce is simply the best
card currently available, the Voodoo 3 3500 can't tip it's performance by
miles... The Voodoo3 is pretty equal to the TNT2 both cards having it's
stronger and poorer sides...

Oh well.. who knows I might be able to play GPL with my upcoming GeForce...
Afterall... The Creative Labs Annihalator GeForce cards have GLIDE support
:-)

Nope.

No GLIDE support for CL Annihilator. It is said that their beta Unified
drivers lets you run GLIDE games, but that isn't 100 pst correct. I have
been told that the Unified drivers translates GLIDE to OpenGL. Translation
comes at a price: Loss of performance. Furthermore: GPL doesn't work at all
with the Unified drivers.

Too bad, really.
