SCGT and ATi Radeon problem

Is anyone using this combo?

With a Rage Fury I used to get the flashing dash thingy at the start of a
race but it was OK after a few quick F4s.

Now with a Radeon 32 DDR I'll get dash flashing about every two laps.  It
is, of course, distracting and a PITA.  F4 will fix it but only for a few
laps.

Also I notice that the game menus will sometimes start to flicker.

DX8, Win2000, SCGT 1.551 with Adv Options Editor applied.  I'm using the
latest ATi "special" drivers.  Before I start uninstalling drivers I thought
I'd check if this is a common thing.

Ive got a Radeon 64m DDR. The only time i see flashing is when exiting
the pits at some tracks and it only flashes once. Yes i have some minor menu
discrepencies (mostly cursor) but nothing that doesnt allow me to get around
the menu's. I have yet to see the full potential of this card, ordered a
PIII-1ghz, hopefully that'll get me by till the 1+ghz's are a bit cheaper.
I crave trying out the GeForce2 64m.... or a V5, whichever gives the
smoothest most realistic image...

Bob, have you tried some of the basic things, like turning off triple
buffering, etc.

Charlie, aside from the FSAA on the V5, the Radeon has about the nicest
image quality you'll ever see. Although I like the imaging with my V5, I
tried the 32mb Radeon for about a week and was amazed at both the 3D and 2D
quality. With some updated drivers, ATI could have a real winner.

I've tried a few variations in Display Properties.  Maybe more
experimentation is in order...

http://www.rage3d.com/
go here for Radeon tweaking guides, also there's a link to a Radeon tweaker,
it has the settings that are in display prop and more, and tells you what
they change and recommends either on or off. very handy for quickly tweaking
your Radeon.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it.

I'm not sure if I've fixed it now... time will tell.  As a last resort I
changed the AGP Aperture in BIOS to a lower value and so far so good.  I
don't know why that works but I've read of some odd problems that are fixed
by altering the AGP value.

Ive got the Radeon 64DDR + 1.1mhz Athelon and when I tried the new
ATI "special" (beta)drivers I got wierd results in GPL and GP3 (pink
sky, wild colors).  I went back to the last non-beta drivers and
everything is fine.

Hm.  Thanks for the data.
