Ho hum.  Another rally game that thinks these events are held on 10 metre
wide smooth dirt freeways, yet calls itself a "simulation".  The graphics
look pretty, though, if that's what you're really after.

They can make them 100 meters wide, as far as I'm concerned -- IF they
get the physics right, and I think the folks at Bugbear are going to
do just that.  They play GPL, they know what the benchmark is, and I
have a feeling that (Historic) Rally Trophy may be THE hottest sim
title we'll see this year.

If that is a Lotus Cortina in some of those shots(?) then it's a guaranteed
purchase.

Damnit! *When* will I learn to hit that Reply Group instead of just Reply ..
Again I sent my original answer directly via email. Bah! anyways, here goes
again..

Why '?' after the 'shots'? Ok, we've been accused of prerendering
screenshots for PR purposes but nope, all shots are in-game. Anyways, yes,
it's a Ford Lotus Cortina :)

Hmmm check out dejanews we had a discussion about that.  It seems they are
actually realistically modeled, but I'm still not 100% sure about that.

Mmmm... Now this is something I think I've answered before.. :)

Camera FOV's make the roads easily look wider then they are. Sure, at some
places and tracks the road is wide, but on the other hand, on some other
places and other stages they can get pretty narrow. If it was
carwidth-narrow all the way in the game, everyone would complain it's too
hard and if it's all the way too wide, people will complain about making it
too easy. Now we're just giving everyone an equal chance to complain about
both ;)

In the 1000 Lakes rally they are fairly wide and fairly smooth. Can't tell
if the screenshots are taken from that event though.

Anyhow, I'd rather they compromise on the width and smoothness of the roads
to aid playability than fudge the cars.

Next week there will be several hands-on previews appearing in the net, so
you all have a chance of reading some unbiased views.. Even though the
preview is pre-alpha code and doesn't have all the features in it, it gives
a good feel on the game.

Hi,
This is finnish sim? And as a Finn I remember very well our public country
roads were appx. 6-8 metres wide at sixties and even at seventies. And
rallys were held there. Mainly flat out. (remember usual top speeds were
about 185 kph)

Does the grass or going off road effect the car inaccurately? Like some
previous rally sims/gamulations?
