Btw, is there any reason why none of these headlights cast any light on the
track ?

I cannot recollecting seeing any screenshots where the lights actually
light-up a surface...  Is this a hardware-limit thingy?

Also.. the Red-line at 10,000 rpm might be a bit optimistic :-)

Hrm, again I hit the wrong reply button.. Here's a proper answer, not just
email to Ed :)

http://www.spiele-city.net/show.php?pic=/previews/RallyTrophy/64.jpg shows
them among a few other shots, although not very clearly. It's more "visible"
in motion, especially with that version when the light intensity wasn't
adjusted and the cast angle was set too high.

It's there, don't worry ;)

Aren't we in for treats today.. High Gear (http://www.simracingnews.com)
posted their preview up, and SimActu (http://www.simactu.com) did the same
thing. Enjoy :)

It looks really good Ilari.  By looks I mean physics wise, of course
eye-candy is nice too :)

http://www.sportplanet.com/hg/screenshot.php?id=17&pic=e11.jpg - The
skid marks are different shades depending on the force applied.

http://www.sportplanet.com/hg/screenshot.php?id=17&pic=e3.jpg -
Suspension dropping on the LF.
http://www.sportplanet.com/hg/screenshot.php?id=17&pic=g6.jpg - More
suspension stuff.

http://www.sportplanet.com/hg/screenshot.php?id=17&pic=f2.jpg - In car
views :)

I like the world-wide release strategy too!
Jason.

Someone definitely seems to pay attention to things! I wish there was a
video of a car slowly climbing from a ditch - the tyre movement is
beautiful, especially when it teeters on one front wheel and one rear wheel
and the car slowly tips to the side it's leaning on.. :)

I just had a look at the official web-site...  (looks very nice btw :) and
saw the story about car sounds..

I see pictures of parked cars "being recorded"....  does this mean that you
never recorded any sounds of the gear-train ??  Rally- and race-cars sound
soo different when the gears are running compared to mere engine sound.
Inside a race-prepared car - I'd say the gear-box alone makes for 95% of the
noice you head...   Does 'RT' got gearboox sounds too?

Also, a few other things I noticed...  the drivers got nomex-gloves on!!  I
dont think rally drivers started wearing gloves until the late 80's -  early
90's !

I also read something about the Cortina being a very sucessfull rally-car...
you sure you dont mean the Escort? I would say the Escort is alot more
famous and winning car than the Cortina... - no?

But then again... the Mini got them both beat! :-)

Can't wait!

Geez, people, aren't you getting a tad too picky already?

If Nomex gloves constitute an inexcusable anachronism, so should an
Escort. ;) If memory serves, it wasn't around in the era simulated
here - didn't it replace the Cortina models sometime in the seventies?

Era simulated in RT is broadly spoken 'sixties and seventies' so Escort fits
in nicely, and the glove issue is just a matter of texture map (subject to
change anyways, btw).. We can make them ***y or woolly or whatever if
needed ;)

cortina WAS very successful with it's lotus engine in the beggining of the
sixties, they (ford) did some rallyes, circuit races and so on....I think it
was the beggining of Ford in racing, then came the FABULOUS GT40 era, then
on to F1 with the cosworth engine....until now buying JAGUAR and PI RESEARCH
to do F1.

Hehehe.. I dont know about you, but to me sound is very important in a
race-sim...   and as said the noice from the gearbox make it all sound
*miles* more noicy and different.

Infact I'll rank sound as the third important 'thing' in a sim, after
physics and online-racing..

Sounds great!
A nice pair of worn brown or black "short" leather-gloves would fit -
well... like a glove!  :-)

Guess the gearbox sound is missing then..?  :-(
