Momo (black) plug woes

by Bamada » Tue, 04 Nov 2003 15:02:24

The plug on this Momo has always been easily shaken loose. Usually an unplug
replug recalibrate did the trick but now it craps out after anywhere from 3-15
laps NR2003. Just shaking or reseating the plug doesn't help. Gotta unplug etc
again. Has anyone else had this problem. I suspect the connector on the base
rather that the cable but ??? Just looking for opinions before cracking this
thing open.
TIA

I had that problem and found it to be due to IRQ sharing.  I had my USB port
sharing with two other devices, and eliminating one of them greatly reduced
the frequency of that problem.

't Was the cable (at the D-sub 25 end) on my unit and on those of a couple
other owners 'round here (I've repaired 3 so far). Seems to be a bit of a
stock fault.

Well Momo is the only device using the USB. Did you replace the plug Jan? If
so, do you have the pin out?
Thanks.

I'm a little confused (what's new). Are the ones you repaired the black ones
Jan? Mine has a 7 pin connector shaped like a D-sub that plugs into the base of
the wheel. The other end is hardwired to the pedal unit. Is the connector that
you replaced 7 pin?
Thanks again

I have an "orginal" MOMO. Red base, black leather wheelrim.

No, mine has a D-sub 25 connector at the wheel, which also accommodates de
USB connection to the PC. You can find a circuit diagram of this version
here:

But it sounds like you'll find this schematic more helpfull:

Thank you very much Jan. Exactly what I needed. Hopefully be ready by Saturday.
I'd hate to miss North Carolina.
