I have a Logitech formula wheel, the all black one, that uses game port
connection and I'll ***ed if I can get the thing working on XP. Tried all
the latest drivers from all concerned with no joy.

Any suggestion?

Gonzo.

Try hooking it up thru the USB port. You'll need an adapter.
I should say that this didn't work for me. But, hey, it was Logitech's
idea........

Thanks P.C. I tried the USB b/4 posting but to no avail. Very frustrating,
although a bit of ammo for when the wife asks why I'm looking at another
steering wheel.

have you installed the latest wingman software and tried running whatever
game you are using through it?

Yes, in my case, ws411enu. Still won't recognize the wheel.
Maybe, I'll try contacting tech support one more time. I've got an itch to
try F1 2001.

Yup - had the same problem here... Very frustrating :-(

However - one late night digging through the help files that can be found on
Wingmanteam.com, I stumbled over the explanation:

The Black Wingman formula wheel will not be detected by the Wingman profiler
under XP - no support for a gameport....

What you have to do instead, is install a "Logitech Wingman Digital Device"
in the gamecontrollers panel....

Now XP will detect your wheel, and you can use it again :-) - but there
still won't be any profiler support :-(

Why Logitech has decided to do this is quite beyond me, as obviously XP has
no problem with a gameport.....

(I ended up byuing the Momo Force anyhow... ;-) )

Hope this helps!

Sounds like they are doing the same thing as Microsoft is with their
Gameport Controllers.  Saying "Tough Luck.  We got your money now...".

Alternatively, you can define your own device in xp ie 2 axis, 4 button
wheel.

Jesper,

Thanks for the tip. You should see the smile on my face. Having not played
GPL for months I am now back and loving it.

See you all online soon.
