Rendition tracks...... post them legally?

by Markus Stiepe » Wed, 29 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi freaks,
I was just wondering, as many people have ICR2 in the standard version, and
don't see why they should buy the Rendition version of the same Sim, is it
legal for me to post the converted Rendition-tracks on my Web-Site? I mean
*only* those tracks, *not* the converter and *not* any other tracks.......
If the answer is "NO", is there a way to get the normal tracks converted to
the rendition-version? Would it be allowed to post *those* additions?

It is still a big hassle here in this NG about the old Indy track from the
expansion-pack for ICR1. It is a product that is simply impossible to buy, and
impossible to order too. The argument is still going on though.

The same goes for the Rendition-enhanced ICR2 tracks. Impossible to get and
order in any way. I would classify them as the Indy track. Only a lucky few
have them, and it is not legal to distribute them.

I don't think anyone but Papy would mind though...

No, no, no, no and er... no.

No way would it be legal, without leave from Papy/ Whoever owns the copyright.
Cendant? Sierra Studios? (etc).

Rendition tracks...... post them legally?

The Rendition version of CART *is* still available directly from Sierra.
I received this email this morning from someone who ordered CART racing
from the Sierra Web site:

'I received my copy today. It's the Sierra Sports version entitled "Cart
Racing".  Included is a DOS\REND\TRACKS directory with the enhanced
tracks. Also, as you indicated, it came with a hefty 200 page "Cart
Racing Strategy Guide" by Steve Smith. All this for $9.95!!!

'If you need to buy CART, try here:

https://store.sierra.com/ObjectBuilder/ObjectBuilder.iwx?processName=...

'This is the version I received. Rendition ready.'

Make sure you order the version above, SKU 70449, which costs $9.95, and
is Rendition Ready.

Avoid the AllAmerican Sports version, SKU 70563, which costs $14.95 and
is NOT Rendition Ready.
