ThrustMaster Force GT in NR2

Hi there

Does anybody got a problem bringing up the Nascar Force GT in Windows 95.

Actually I install the wheel and pass the tests in the little program send
by thrustmaster.

When I install the Nascar Racing I can move the wheel during the self test
an all is detected but when I lauch the game it's another problem. Nothing
is working. I really ask me if I've done a good choice with this wheel and
if I always got such problems it could be better just to choose a simple
wheel like the Nascar Pro or the F1 model.

Can you please help me.....

Another time...  Force Feedback wheels don't work with DOS-type games. Sorry
:(

The best thing for you is to buy Nascar Racing : 1999 Edition since it has a
Windows mode to enable FF-wheels.

That's a myth Fran?ois. What makes the digital wheels not work in N2 is the
calibration routine created by Papy. It works great for analog wheels, but
it just can't read the digital signals in the FF/Digital wheels. It's not
Dos, it's Papyrus.

So that's why most of the people can't make their FF wheel work with most of
the Rally Titles (IRC, RAC Championship), Grand Prix 2 (unless they tweak
some things), etc.. ?

And this is why that FF joysticks also have difficulties calibrating with
most of the air sims working in DOS ?  It must be "just" Papyrus ;)

My point is that the digital wheels can be made to work in DOS. When those
games were originally produced there was no such thing as digital
controllers, so they did not have to worry about that when creating their
calibration programs. If the makers of those games/sims no longer support
those games, then nothing can really be done. But Papyrus still sell and
promote N2 (via NROS), so they should continue to support it. Think about
it, the most popular racing sim in the US does not work with 75% of the
steering wheels currently being sold in stores. With some re-working in the
calibration routine Papyrus could have support for digital controllers.
Think about it, if you use the Papyrus calibration routine in NR1999 under
windows the digital wheel will not work (remember this is in Windows), but
if you switch to the DirectX option it does work. If it were only a DOS
problem then the wheel would be able to calibrate under the Papyrus option.

But somehow you have point, but it's not only Papyrus here, there's plenty
of companies who have Dos-based titles and just don't care to make patches
for them. Geeze N2 is 2 and a half years old, they have better things at
Papyrus to care and to put their staff on.

It's up to the customer to buy it's hardware depending on the software they
run.

When I go to CompUSA I see a Thrustmaster FF, Microsoft FF, Logitech FF, and
Thrustmaster Pro wheel. Now there are others like the Interact V4 Force and
the Per4mer wheels, but somebody would have to drunk to buy any of these
two.

Normally I would agree with this. But they still sell and promote the game
via NROS. Does this mean that they should no longer make any changes to
NROS, because the sim is too old. The least they could do is put NR1999
Win95/98 on TEN. By the way, I can't speak for the other manufactures, but
on the box of the MS wheel it says that the wheel will have basic wheel
functionality in MS-DOS mode (I think being able to drive in a straight line
would fall under basic).

Rumor has it that the wheels will work with DOS games, but not
N2/N99 because of the joystick optimization ***(for NROS).

So you point doesn't wash :-)
