Is N3 any good?

by Colin McSkimmin » Tue, 21 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Tempted latley by N3 but I have no real experience of Nascar racing
whatsoever. MGPRS2 & GPL are more my thing but I heard that you can convert
the tracks over to GPL (maybe that was N2?).

Is it a drivable & accurate sim? Bear in mind that over here in the UK we
see & hear very little of Nascar so I don't really know much of the
background to it.

Basically - can you convert the N3 tracks to GPL, and if this is not the
case, is it worth getting anyway?

Cheers

If you haven't tried a Nascar sim before, Nascar Racing 3 is probably
the best one to begin with. It's quite an improvement over previous
versions, especially with support for force feedback.

As you're in the UK, try to buy it from somewhere like Electronic
Boutiques, as you can return it within 7 (or have they now increase it
to 10?) days if you're not satisfied, for any reason.

Let us know what you think of it.

Boomboom

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggg
itts     nascar1 with even better graphics.......get n2 on budget (if you
dont already have it, and wait for N4 (October) which should have the new
(2year old) reality engine we know only as 'the gpl engine'

GP3 comes soon,
but if you really want to try racing, dont bother getting PC stuff (too
expensive anyway except for the diehards), save those coppers and get
yourself kart racing, or even better, formula ford, (a few hundred quid a
race if you go to the right place...) youll never forget it, and then you
can come back here and tell us how unrealistic all sims bar gpl are.

pez who doesnt like HAVAS setting the stall at Papyrus and telling them to
make a business decision and tart up NASCAR Racing.

Clearly N3 is the best step to try Stock-car racing.  I would might suggest
you wait for the demo, which will be done someday.  Papyrus just wants to
put online racing capabilities to it, so it won't happen until the official
patch.

But at the moment you cannot "yet"  convert tracks to GPL.  The convertor
hasn't been released.

I was given N3 for Xmas, but at the moment I can only find OVAL tracks. Are
there no proper tracks in Nascar racing?  If this is the case, then I can't
see why anyone would want to convert these tracks for GPL

    ooohh, this'll be fun.
What do you mean "proper?"  If cars were meant to steer BOTH ways there
wouldn't be any stagger.

    lol j/k.

Don't forget, there IS Sears Point and The Glen.

Look at Sears Point and Watkins Glen.  Both are road courses.
