N3/Rendition? Am I screwed?

by Edward Whit » Mon, 27 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Hi all, just installed N3 on my pll 233/64meg/Thriller 8meg/Win98 sytem, and
I must say I'm a little disappointed so far, runs about as well as GPL did
before I bought the thriller, with the added benefit that it quits back to
my desktop before I can get into 2nd gear.....Installation went OK, had no
programs running in background, but I noticed in the readme that the v2200
drivers for the Thriller could be a problem, I have latest bios and drivers
available from the Herc site installed, but I guess my question is, do I
need a new vid card to run this game, anyone else had this problem and found
a solution, and is the game worth the added expense and effort? Would a 3dfx
card and reinstall work? I don't know, that's why I'm asking
you......Anybody? Thanks in advance, Ed White

Sadly, the Rendition V2200 is well past it's prime. I just retired mine in
favour of a Voodoo3 3000. You'll be amazed at the improvement.

 You have 3 options:
1. Get a new vid card
2. try the latest reference drivers from rendition.com
3. Try to disable mip mapping when using rendition.

Thanks Ron, disabling mipmapping allowed me to run the game and increase the
graphic settings considerably..............Keep Racing, Ed

Thanks, Ronnie, this seems to be working for me as well.

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark
