Just found a place in USA selling a joystick to USB port converter,
Has any1 tried 1 of these things, and if so how good are they?
Can u use full functions of say 2 extended joysticks (ones that use more
than 2 axis or more than 2 buttons etc.) in games by using 1 via USB and
1 via normal port?
If u are interested I saw it here http://www.racesimcentral.net/
IM sure interested, just wish I could find something similar in the UK

Sounds more than slightly dodgy to me.!
AFAIK the joystick itself needs to have chips to support USB, I'm not saying
it wont work (if it does then count me in)!
I am just a little sceptical.

What was this product called and who made it? CableMax seem to have pulled
it from their what's new page.
If anyone finds out anymore about this please let us know. If this thing
works and is available in the UK, I'll snap it up,
Cheers,
Paul

This was the description they had on the page,

USB Joystick Converter
Convert any Joystick or MIDI device to work with your USB port!
USB to GamePort Adapter from RockFire... 4-mode switchable (all
conventional analog game controllers and ForceFeedBack, Av. Garde,
ThrustMaster FCS, Bazooka, Maya, CH Flt Pro, FirePlus, FireDragon &
4-axis/4-button, Silver Hawk II, Space Ranger & 2-axis/8-button) ... for
all PC/Win98 USB equipped systems. Works with many Game Port/MIDI
interfaces, too! 6 foot USB cable.

Since I have seen parallel and serial port converters I cant see why
they couldn't make a gameport converter
Lets keep our fingers crossed

If you click on the product its not found. I did find the Rockfire
site but saw no mention of a Gameport-to-USB converter. I then dug a
little deeper and see that Entrega produces one for the Macintosh, but
has no mention of the PC.  I dropped them both an email, will see what
comes of it.  http://www.entrega.com/

Entegra are supplying in the UK. I bought their serial to USB converter in
PC World. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but with USB it's just a matter of
someone writing a PC driver for it, isn't it.
Cheers,
Paul
