Has anyone tried using USB and joystick port together ??

I have a FFB microsoft wheel and a MS Precision Pro using USB, they both
show up in the joystick panel, but can they be made to work and how would
you choose between the two before starting a game ??.

Looking forward to some clever thoughts, Paul

I have the same combination - and the MSFF wheel always shows up as device
1, even if it's plugged in after the Precision Pro.  In the calibration
window, GPl makes the following assignments (I would think that all games
using DirectInput do the same):

Axis #1: wheel's steering
Axis #2: wheel's gas pedal
Axis #3: wheel's brake pedal
Axis #4: joystick's x-axis (could be used as a hand clutch if I only use
half the travel in the calibration window - drive fully engaged when stick
springs back to center)

For WWII Fighters, although the sim recognizes the PrecisionPro, I have to
unplug the wheel from the gameport in order to use the joystick.  I don't
have to remove the wheel from the Game Controller list window.  I think
unplugging the power to the wheel would do the same thing.

For the wheel, I use a joystick extension cable that lets me do this easily.
When I plug the wheel back in and start GPL, I have to recalibrate (within
GPL).

Did you want to use them both, at the same time?

What is the MS Precision Pro like for GPL? My budget can't stretch to a MS
FF Wheel, but I wonder thought this joystick could be ideal with its
optical/digital precision - and obviously lack of feedback does not matter
in GPL.
I currently have a TM GP1 wheel but the pots are getting beyond repair,
making precise driving difficult.
