Mike, It can be purchased thru:
Speedgear at 1-800-777-4453 http://www.speedgear.com
or
Classic Motorbooks at 1-800-826-6600 http://www.motorbooks.com
Don
Where do you live? I live in Canada, and picked up my copy at Jumbo Video
for (Cdn)$24.95. They had three or four brand new copies in their "for sale"
section.
It is also available from "Classic Motorbooks" via mail order. They sell it
for (US)$39.95. Check them out at www.motorbooks.com or tel 1-800-826-6600
from USA or Canada, or if you are calling from outside of North America, use
1-715-294-3345.
Hope you find it soon, it is AMAZING...

Wow talk about a bargain, I had probably spent more than that on renting it
in the past alone.
One place I've seen it for sale in the past has been Speed Gear although it
was at the $25 price range:

Wonderful movie, although I do tend to fast-forward through some of the
whinny dialoge from the women. The racing footage is awesome especially now
that we have GPL.
Hope that helps.

You can direct order it from the MGM website www.mgm.com , search for
version. Hopefully it will be on DVD some day, I have just about worn
out my copy.

If you have a Media Play near you, they can either order it or they may already
have it in stock. I got my copy for about 20 bucks and it is worth every
penny.
BTW...by all means get the Letterboxed Version. The visual impact of racing
sequences (Monaco and Spa especially) are really diminished in the pan-and-scan
version. Trust me, hold out for the 'Deluxe Letterboxed Version' (complete
with the cheesy trailer)...you wont regret it.
F1Filter
(hoping one day that a Directors Cut version of it with added footage on DVD
appears)
thanks for the help guys. I live in Phoenix now, so it's off to the video
stores to see if i can find a copy locally

You have to pay a small fee each time you watch DIVX... you buy a disc for
like $5 and pay each time you want to see it. I think once you've paid a
certain amount, you can watch it as much as you like, but only on your
player, and normal DVD players wont play them.

With the recent announcement that Twentieth Century Fox will
be releasing titles on the DVD mutation known as Divx, there
might some movie fans out there who think now is the time to join
the bandwagon -- DON'T. You'll be getting on the WRONG
bandwagon
Divx is a moronic pay-per-view bastardization of the wonderful
new digital format known as DVD (or Digital Versatile Disc). Here's why
Divx
is bad:
- Divx players will cost about a hundred dollars MORE than
standard DVD players.
- Divx discs will cost about five dollars to "buy" but after you've
watched it during an initial 48 hour period, you will have to PAY
to watch it EACH TIME after that -- even if you only want to see
one scene or look up a screen credit or whatever.
- Your Divx player will need to be hooked up to a phone line and
you will need a credit card in order to be billed every time you
watch a Divx disc.
- Your viewing habits will be monitored. Everytime your Divx
player reports back to home base (so that they can bill you), a record will
be
kept of what discs you paid to see. Big Brother,
anyone?
- Divx discs will be marketed to the average consumer, meaning
that films will most likely be released ONLY in the inferior
pan & scan format -- unlike with most standard DVDs now in
the marketplace which offer you a CHOICE of pan & scan OR
widescreen.
More reasons not to buy Divx:
- To date, only two studios have announced support SOLELY for
Divx -- Paramount and now Fox. Universal, Disney and
DreamWorks will be releasing titles on BOTH Divx and DVD.
However, Warner Bros., MGM/UA, Columbia, Tri-Star and
New Line will continue to release standard DVDs only.
Warner Bros. in particular has been very vocal in leading the
crusade against Divx.
- In early polls and based on strong consumer outcry in various
newsgroups, Divx seems destined to die a quick death, whereas
standard DVD continues to thrive with brisk sales -- so
beware. DVD is the future of home entertainment. Divx is a
bad investment.
- Think about the huge number of titles that will never
be available on Divx. Think about having to pay every time you
want to watch a movie, no matter how little of it you watch.
- Think about having some corporation peeking into your living
rooms, keeping an eye on what you choose to watch.
If you want to enjoy movies in the best available format, buy
standard DVD. Prices for players are dropping fast and the
number of titles available are outpacing the initial releases
on VHS and laserdisc.
I love movies. I dearly want to be able to watch the Star Wars trilogy
on DVD -- but I urge all movie fans who've yet to jump into the
digital home theater arena, DO NOT buy into Divx. By supporting
DVD and ignoring Divx, They WILL have to release movies on DVD,
meaning, you'll pay for it once, and you'll be able to enjoy it anytime
you want without additional cost.

The really sad thing is that this could seriously slow the acceptance
of DVD, meaning old-fashioned analog video tape will now probably
remain the *** format for at least a few more years. But I'd
rather live with that than buy into a retarded, greed-insprired ripoff
system like DIVX.
Joe
Agreed!
Seems to me the best way to stop this ***is to BOYCOTT Paramount and Fox.
