Thrustmaster FF wheel Final Opnion ?

OK, what about this wheel,

Is it the best in his price category
or is it just a lousy wheel ?

Is it doing some effects the others don't do,
Or is it lacking fx ?

Doesn't or does it function after hard work ?

Doesn't or does it function after hours of work ?

Well ?

I read a dutch magazine telling this was the best ff wheel,
but is this true or not.

BTW, I'm discussing the Nascar Force GT here

Well I like it, and I believe you can get it very inexpensively in Holland,
but you will see some postings that despise it!!!"you payz yer money and
takes yer chance"

Some people have had problems with it.  They may have fixed it recently,
however Randy Cassidy noted some numbers on the various FF wheels resource
utilization, etc and the TM FF wheel was the very worst of the bunch.  Might
wanna hit up dejanews.com and scan for Randy Cassidy and I'm sure those
articles will come up.

Check out www.irlinsider.com (wait, not sure thats right....John, what is it
again, I forget all the time :) for a review of the Saitek FF which is
interally the same as the MS FF.  www.simracingnews.com has a review of the
Ms FF, the Act Labs and Logitech offerings.  I'm sure there are some other
sites, but they elude my memory this morning

Bastiaan,

I had the Thrustmaster wheel for about 6 weeks and I returned it last
weekend to the store.
The main reason for that decision was that the wheel completely misbehaved
with the Thrustmaster drivers and even with the IFORCE reference drivers the
situation didn't improve much. The wheel overheeted after an hour of
gameplay and you had to turn it of to get it back to normal.
Also the wheel felt a bit wobbly and not a hundred percent precise.

On the other hand, the FF effects were pretty good, maybe even better then
with the Logitech wheel I have now. Also the pedals where much better then
the Logitech ones but the brake pedal felt a bit to strong for me and you
cannot adjust that. The basis for the pedal however didn't stay in place
which is much better on the Logitech wheel.
On plus for the wheel is the stick shifting which I'm really missing...

Overall, I wouldn't buy it again, it just wasn't reliable enough.

You may not be much of a fan of the IRL, but at least you can
recognize excellent sim reviews when you read them! <G>

Thrustmaster FF wheel Final Opnion ?

Bastiaan, I've thought about buying it too. I tried it out in a shop, then
switched to a FL 199,- non FF Thrustmaster when playing F1RS. The FF wheel
was good, but some things were abit , so to say hangin'in to it before
falling off. The F1 shifters were not that exact anymore, because once it
geared up the and than nothing happened etc. But pedals and wheel felt good.
Now, what's keeping you From buying ? If you're a fanatic, I would say leave
it. It will slowly but gradually fall apart. Most probably not within a
year... Also, and this is not some joke but these are the words of shopowner
himself:
"One out of four wheels functions without any problems at once. The rest has
some kind of problem (hard- or software). At least one out of four is sent
back to the factory. Someone bought the wheel but had to send it back the
same day. Only after receiving his third wheel he called and said there were
no more problems".

That did it. I bought the Logitech. But even that one could do better.

I've always been a TM fan so I was biased in favor of that wheel.  I
tried three of them and they all broke (something physically broke
inside them) within a few hours of play.  None of them were smooth at
all.  I finally ended up with an ACT Labs FF wheel.  Although the pedals
aren't as smooth as I'd like them, the FF is about as strong as the TM
was.

I have a Thrustmaster GP1 and parts break inside it often but luckily I
have lots of spares including 3 wheels. You can order the parts from
thrustmaster if they break or ask your local computer hardware specialist.
