wanna know how well it works with GPL. i am also going to buy a Athlon 700
Mhz soon. then my PC will rock!!!

If someone here has a Microsoft sidewinder FF steering wheel then please
mail me a profile for the wheel so it uses split axis on the pedals please

GPL works fine with the GeForce card in OPENGL mode only.
I get 36fps consistently with 19 cars in 800x600.
In training I use 1024x768 full detail and get 36 fps always.
There are tonnes of posts here explaining what you need to do and how to set
it up so I won't go into detail.
You'll need the OpenGL patch from Papyrus and the "Use Block Transfer"
option in your NVidia OpenGL advanced settings.

Cheers,
...Colin

I want to congratulate you CLAW!   You are one of the FEW, the VERY
FEW that asked first.  Usually we get....
"awwww I only race gpl but I just bought a geforce(or tnt etc) how come
it doesn't look right?  How come the mirrors are goofy.
Way to go.  Ask first BEFORE wasting your cash.
I beleive the GeForce can be "made" to run gpl fairly well.  You have
to mess with some mirror settings and possibly edit your registry.  But
I'm sure there are a geforce owner or two that will speak up and tell ya
the specifics.
Keep in mind, the 3dfx V3 3000 is the perfect match for gpl, although
it is getting somewhat outdated for other types of *** like Quake and
unreal.

Most people seem to get it running fine ... but I'll add a slight
caution: It does not function correctly here (GeForce DDR+650Mhz
Anthalon) I get about 5 fps; menus take 15s-1m to load, awful. On the
upside, it actually goes pretty quick in s/w mode; its just ugly. Note
it doesn't crash with GeForce, just dog slow.

Still a lot of people report great success.

It's called a ATHLON... WTF is a Anthalon? :)

I agree that the V3 3000 is a very good allround *** card I would like to
have one myself at least last night when I tried to reinstall one of my
computers which had a Voodoo 1 card. I tried to get my CL TNT to work there
just by reistalling drivers (no cleanup of Voodoo drivers).
It was a he.l of a job :-). Got it working after three hours by using the
Hercules TNT drivers. I also have a second newly built computer which I have
a CL Geforce in, and I think it's ok at 1024x768 in GPL, but I think we need
a Voodoo4/5 to get things very good in 1024x768 with all graphics on and 19
AI cars. Now I have all my favorite sims working well on the TNT, but in
F1RS I have some problems with the menus on the Geforce. I probably get a
Voodoo next time if the drivers are ok in GPL. By the way a friend of my
tried the Geforce on a 21 inch monitor at 1600x1280 and he said it was very
smooth.

The Anthalon is a small beetle eating nocturnal mammal found mostly in
swampy regions of the South American coastline....I think? or it could be
that chip made by AMD...you know, the one the is said to be faster than the

you'll need the open-GL-patch from papy and make a little change in the
registry: search for a key named "OpenGL" (e.g. under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\NVidia\OpenGL]
or
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Display\0001\YourVendorHere\OpenGL])
and set the Value for "FlippingControl" to "0". I have a Athlon 600,
Elsa Erazor X2 (DDR-Ram) and with trilinear filtering, mirrors every 2nd
frame I get a constant (and I mean CONSTANT) 36fps in AI-races and
online-races unless there is a very big crash with lots of stuff
happening which lets the frames drop to about 25.

If GPL is the only game you play: go for a Voodoo3. If it's not: buy a
GeForce DDR. This card is more than enough for GPL and it's WAY faster

tweaks, no OC).
