Try ATS12=0 It fixes some hangups..maybe yours.

You don't need a special INIT string for Hawaii.  The default string
always worked fine for me.

Eric - you can usually connect without a custom init string on Hawaii
because Hawaii's modem bank handles disabling of compression and error
correction; however, you can frequently improve your connection by using a
more appropriate init string.  Typically, you can use the same init string
on Hawaii that you use running two-player modem connections.
