I keep getting the msg of unable to connect to remote when i try to enter
a race on hawaii. What is a GOOD proven init string for the USR Sportster
28.8???

Unlike modem racing, for Hawaii you don't need a special init string.  The
default ATZ works just fine for my 28.8 Sportster.

I too could not connect to Hawaii with a sportster.  Called Hawaii Tech
and the told me that most Sportsters are not compatible.  So I bought a
Cardinal and had no problems since.

The cheaper USRobotics Winmodems will not work in a DOS environment.  They
require Windows drivers to function.  I have an older Sportster and have
had no trouble connecting to Hawaii or modem racing.
