GPL FF Problem

by n1asca » Mon, 13 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I have installed the right patch (1.21) for GPL and tried every combination
of numbers in the INI. file I could find on the NG and get absolutely NO
force feedback what so ever in GPL. I'm using a LWFF and FF works fine in
all other games I've tried. Tried a total reinstall but nothing works.
Anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong. At this moment my file
looks like this, but I have tried different comb.of settings but nothing.
Thanks to anyone who can help.
Kris

I had the same problem.  I found the answer on Allison Hine's web site.  When
you first install the game the core.ini file is actually saved as
core.ini.sample.

You must rename the file from core.ini.sample to core.ini.  Hope that helps you
out. It worked for me.

Good Luck,

Paul.

A common problem is that the core.ini file is not correctly named.  This
happens particularly if you have file extensions hidden (something which I
hate incidentally).  Anyway, what you should do is go to your GPL directory
and right click on the file core.ini.  Select Properties from the popup menu
and look at the property MS-DOS name.  This should be CORE.INI.  Anything
else will mean that the file will be ignored.  The filename could be
something like COREIN~1.SAM for example.  If the filename is not CORE.INI,
open a DOS Prompt and change to the GPL directory.  Then type in the
command:

REN  XXX.YYY  CORE.INI

where XXX.YYY is the MS-DOS name given from the Properties of the file.
When renamed the file should have an icon which looks like a notepad with a
cog in the top right hand corner.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Phil
