I'd like to hear about peoples experiences with the new GeForce cards
when running GPL, GP2 or any other sims for that mattter. I have heard
of a few problems with GPL. Also, does anyone know enough about
GP3 to determine if it will support OpenGL, Glide, or D3D, etc.  I
have checked most of the GP3 sites and really can't find the answer
to that one. I've read a lot about the GeForce cards from the Quake
and Unreal Tournament crowd, and I'd like an opinion from the auto
Sim crowd. Anyone????

I've been out of the Sim/hardware scene for a while, so I guess i'm
kind of a newbie here. So you help would be most appreciated.

TIA

Gpl sucks with it, SOS even worse (but thats the games fault, is this a pre
test engine for GP3?)
Wouldn't know about Nascar sims but they have d3d option so that should work
well.

I used the GeForce/PIII-600 with Nascar3 and Nascar legends and always got
frame rates at 30fps with all details, full field, full audio, etc, etc in D3D
mode, but just installed a Voodoo 2 12mb, because the graphics are better with
those sims and 3DFX.

should work well.

if "sucks" means "only runs in 640x480" then this is correct.
however, it runs as smoooth as silk and doesn't get in the way.
noticably but not radically better than my previous ati rage pro.
all this is on gpl.

on n3, i'm running > 25 fps all the time in 1024x768 except at
the start of a race.  per my posting from yesterday, i'm pretty
impressed with the geforce (i have an elsa erazor X).  it's
saving me probably six months on my cpu--it's that much better
than the rage pro.

No Brian I had the GeForce running at 1024*768 and it gave 21fps in
practice... (PIII-600 128MB...)

I replaced an original TNT card with a GeForce (wanted the GeForce for my
animation software, but GPL has to run on any graphics card I put in the
machine), and the improvement, while not dramatic, is quite noticeable.

Where I was running 1024X768 with the TNT, I'm now running at 1280X1024,
consistently 35-37fps, on a Celeron 450.  This is by myself on the track -
I'm not really a hotlapper per se, but I don't tend to run races.  I'm
running fairly recent nvidia Detonator drivers.

It's probably not worth the price difference over a TNT2 Ultra for GPL, but
since it has big benefits with my animation software, it was worth it to me.
