Big problem with RC and GeForce

How do you apply a patch if the game does not install? It works fine on
my TNT based sysetm, but on the other one, with a GeForce card, I just
get a black screen after I insert the CD. Nothing happens for a long
time, press ESCAPE and you go back to Windows.

I like RC, but it does seem an extraordinarily bad decision to write an
installer which uses Direct3D and all its potential problems, rather than
using a Windows based installer like every other developer. At least if
you can install the game on your HD the developer can issue a patch.
