GPL and the speed patch

by Philste » Thu, 18 Jul 2002 06:49:35

I have reinstalled GPL on my new system. One thing I have noticed is that in
N2002 and Neverwinter Nights, the framerates freezes from time to time for a
fraction of a second. Could this be caused by the speed patch for GPL? GPL
seems to run just fine.

Here are my specs:
P4 2.24
512 DDR PC2700 ram
Asus Ti4400 vid card (29.42 drivers in Win98 and WinXP)
Creative Audigy
Directx 8.1
2x 40 Gig Seagate HD
DVD ROM

The hiccups occur in both Win98 and WinXP. Virtual memory seting in Win98 is
1024 MIN and 1024 MAX.

Opinion?

Thanks in advance!

Are you on a broadband connection? I remember something about putting in a
dummy static IP or else Windows would poll the network connections and
cause the same problem you describe.

Turn down the Creative sound card acceleration in Windows XP, trying one
notch left at a time.  That has fixed several problems.  And make darn sure
you've got the latest drivers for both your sound and graphics cards.  Also
check to see if there are any updates available for your BIOS and
motherboard.
