VROC Questions??????

by Peter » Sun, 22 Nov 1998 04:00:00

Hi, after finally giving in and downloading Netscape to run VROC I am having
trouble connecting.  I click on "join" in VROC and GPL loads, I go to the
multiplayer screen and hit the green button.  It then says opening
connection (or something to that effect) and then quickly says closing
session.  I can't seem to connect.

I do have a winmodem Diamond SupraMax PCI, Is that the reason?

I guess I'll have to go with USR if that is the case.  I have not installed
core ini., should I?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

You didn't say if you clicked on the IP address in the right box first.
Just thought I would throw this out just in case....

VROC Questions??????

Peter, yes, you should ditch the winmodem ASAP.  If nothing else,
it will drag your CPU.  I dunno if I'd vote for USR (it has it's
own idiosyncrancies), but anything non-winmodem would be a plus.
Before you buy a new modem, however, look into digital
availability in your area (ISDN/ADSL/Cable)... you might be glad
you did.

I'm assuming you have downloaded GPPING.EXE (did I get the
filename right?) and put it in your GPL directory.  I doubt GPL
would boot via VROC without this, but tossing it forward just in
case.

Yes, you should run CORE.INI unless you are going to join a game
that expressly forbids it.  If you try to connect to a CORE.INI
host, and you don;t have it, then this is most likely the source
of your problem.

Rgds 'n Good Luck,
Mark R.
