What exactly is a 'spit axis pedal'? I never heard that term before? Split?

With single axis pedals, acceleration and braking is linear, and on the same
line, just like the steering is.  If you have the accelerator depressed
(equivalent of full right lock steering), using the brakes reduces your
acceleration (= to pulling steering back to center), it doesn't actually hit
the brakes (= to full left lock steering).  Split axis uses a total of three
axis':  one for steering, one for gas, one for braking.  This means you can
have full brakes and full accelerator, and each one won't affect the other.

I was wondering the same thing...How do you do it fo Viper?  There doesn't
seem to be any option for it within the "Tune" feature. Or do you set it up
in Windows and you're good to go?

Viper will recognize either a combined axis, or a split axis, so it needs to
be set up in the game controllers panel.  For instance, the Logitech's
profiler has a global choice of combined or split.
In a future patch, they will allow you to assign on a game-by-game basis!
