Viper Racing patch question

Before I installed the patch I was getting about 35 fps in the benchmark and
after patch installation  it was up near 50. I am just wondering what graphic
improvements were made with the patch to increase the frame rate by that much.

I managed to eke out a few extra frames myself, with my ATI Rage Pro Turbo.
