Does anyone know where I can get the Viper Racing 1.2 beta patch? I had it a
while back but, re-installed windows and the old link seems to be broken.

Does Viper Racing work under XP (no more sound problems) with this patch?

I'm not sure if the patch helps with XP but, it'd be worth a shot. I still
had to play with some of the audio settings in options.cfg to get it to work
properly however.

You know, those MGI folks are pretty cool...

Here we have a 3 year old game, that's been in the 'Bargain Bin' for a year
or more, and yet they still release a patch to make it work with the latest
OS.

And it does so very well! I thought I had lost Viper Racing forever, which
I still think is one of the best simulations ever written.

Thanks MGI!

My only question is how on earth they ever talked Sierra into letting them
release it ?

It DOES fix the sound problem with XP!

Hint - You MUST install the 1.1 release patch BEFORE adding the 1.2 beta
patch.

I did it this weekend and it works great! All of the sound issues under XP
are gone (at least in my case).

So what is lacking in Viper Racing that needs a patch? Graphics (to
1024 x 768) gameplay, physics all just perfect IMHO.

OK, more of the same would be great - I'd like to take my Viper to
Laguna Seca, or GPL to Sunset Mesa!

I too love to run Viper Racing still.

I am working on a new***pit for the GTS-R......in racing trim instead
of street trim. I will announce the availability here when its done.

PS: Could someone at MGI help with opening the doors to new VR tracks?
We'll do the work....just give us the tools! Also, with today's fast
video cards....and platforms...it would be nice to run VR at greater
than 1040 res! Can this be done? We'll update and patch the track
texture files if we have the tools.
