"The Italian Job" is another fine car movie. It's a Michael Caine
caper with a bunch of Cooper S's running through narrow italian
streets, jumping off roofs and stuff...very fun.

Mike,
Try to find a documentry called The Speed Merchants. Great Sports Car racing
from the early 70's. Grand Prix is always good on a rainy afternoon. A film
documentry about late 70's Can-Am called Circuit, is also worth a look. Check
out the back of autoweek for the Motorbooks International catalogue. They have
tons of Racing films.
Easy...Le Mans, starring Steve McQueen. =)
Marc
Good action and camera shots for sure, but you sure about the
acting? =P
Looked to me like a "grounded" version of Top Gun. ;)
Cheers!
Marc
What...are you on *** or something...? Maybe the best "crash and burn"
film of all time...
As far as the racing went in DoT, it REALLY sucked. If that'd been real
NASCAR racing, them boys'd been kicked outta there like a Green Bay field
goal...
My pick: Redline 7000. Great 60's NASCAR flick; classic action from
Daytona, Darlington, C***te, Atlanta, and Riverside; good music, and some
pretty believable storylines...
I seem to remember somewhere that there were plans to make a new movie
about Formula 1 racing.....has anyone heard anything about this? Thanks.

The two best films--
1. "Grand Prix"--James Garner, Eve Marie Saint, Yves Montand
2. "Le Mans"- Steve McQueen

It is important to remember that any film WITH Steve
McQueen is inherently superior to any film WITHOUT Steve
McQueen. Therefore, the answer is Le Mans.
