GPL & VROC

by Steve Gare » Mon, 07 Jan 2008 22:20:49

After 3 or 4 years away breeding I'm now looking to get back into sim
racing.

Great to see GPL and VROC still going.

However, after upgrading my PC (dual core thing - 2Gb ram) OS (XP) and
method of connection (Broadband now as opposed to dial-up before), I'm
having a few problems trying to join a race on VROC.

Firstly, most of the time, as GPL tries to join the race I get
"server/client bandwidth mismatch" as an error on the GPL multiplayer
screen.

If I can eventually get past that, I then get an error message "Cannot
initialise the replay system"

I think I've got all the relevant GPL patches - CPU fix, v1.2, disco fix
etc.

Has anyone got any ideas

Cheers

Steve

These and more problems are covered in the GPL FAQ (shameless plug) at
http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=105748

There's a new Bandwidth patch at http://www.xs4all.nl/~westrab/gpl.htm
which is required to connect to most hosts now.  After applying the
patch, make sure that you have the value net_mdm_server_send_size =
384  in the core.ini.

Fro the "Cannot initialise the replay system" message, put the
following in the core.ini:
[ Replay ]
ReplayMemoryOverride = 128000
