NR2 3Dfx Patch question

P2/333, 128mb RAM, Monster3D (Voodoo1)

I already have the patch and have even run it, but I some texture tearing
on the track.  This is my batch file that runs the game:

SET SST_RGAMMA=0.85
SET SST_GGAMMA=0.85
SET SST_BGAMMA=0.85
set N2FXAA=2
set N2FXFOG=0.01
set N2FXLOAD=0x200000
nas3dfx.exe
SET SST_RGAMMA=1.70
SET SST_GGAMMA=1.70
SET SST_BGAMMA=1.70

I'm specifying 2mb of text memory (isn't that what the M3d has?).

Will specifying a lower number make the tearing go away?

Has anyone run this on a Pure 3D?

Has anyone run this on a 8mb Voodoo2 card?

Has anyone run this on a 12mb Voodoo2 card?

Has anyone run this on Voodoo2 SLI configuration?

I've tried and it locks up my machine HARD. I did move the suggested
file to the nascar2 directory but I can't get past the opening screen.

Must be the special tweak by Canopus.

I'd love to here from anyone who has it working with a pure3d and
would like to know the batch settings used.

I've been running it on a Pure3d, with some difficulty. I've been
messing with the N2 environment veriables, but without any noticable
effect. I've set anti-aliasing on and off, forced textures high and low,
and I can't tell the difference. Are the effects really subtle?

Could some kind soul post screenshots comparing the different effects?
They would rock!

The other strange thing I've noticed is that the 3dfx splash screen (the
spinning logo) spins significantly slower before Nascar2 than before any
other 3dfx game I've tried. So maybe I'm not configured right. Or maybe
it's that glide2x.ovl file required for the Pure3d.

It seems to work fine on my Pure 3D. I added the right file
(Glide2x.ovl) to my N2 Directory and added SET N2FXAA=1, and SET
N2FXLOAD= 0x200000 to Dosstart.bat and everything works fine. BTW I
reboot to DOS to play the game.

After copying the file as stated in readme3d.txt ran great with my Pure3d.
Use the Gns3dfx bat file if you have Grand National Pack or Nas3dfx bat if
you dont. I have this in my bat file.
SET N2FXAA=2
SET N2FXLOAD=0xffffffff
GNS3DFX.EXE -3DFX

Havent messed with the fog settings yet.

I run the 3dfx nascar2 on my pure3d with NO problems whatsoever...
in win95 AND dos...so it must be your drivers that are not up to date

Just use the recommended settings, except I doubled the memory setting to
200000 from 100000.  Works great!

I have a Voodoo2, P233 48MB, any suggestions on making N2 look better?  How so
I adjust the Bat file?

Edit the nas3dfx.bat file.  In it is the line set ***load=0x10000 (can't
remember exactly).  This sets the high res texture limit to 1 mb change the
number to 0x20000 or 0x40000 or upward to get the best result.  Play around
till you're happy with it.

The comments in the readme file explain this better.

After reading all these posts, I'm going out to buy one right now
(Stealth II S220).  It will run right next to my Monster 3D.  Diamond
will now have a monopoly on my video.

NR2 3Dfx Patch question

I went out and bought a Stealth II over the weekend and rebooted at least
sixty times between Sat and Sunday. That card which worked with everything
didn't like N2 or Indy II which is primarily the reason I bought it. I
wanted to see the rendition versions of these sims and needed a new 2D card.
( I have a monster 3 D)

I tried various fixes (dosfix) but nothing worked and it was*** other
things as well.
I am running the 98 beta maybe that was it, or maybe the Monster Sound card
that sits along side a Sound blaster Pro, whatever I don't know. But as soon
as I pulled that card and put in the old one everything went back to normal.

Just my little rant. I really wanted this to work but I guess I am looking
for another card to go with my M3D
Any suggestions?

Regards
Michael

I use an ATI 3D Expression with 2 meg on board, with the Monster 3D of
course.  On my P166 with 64 megs ram I can run all graphics on with no
jerkiness whatsoever.  Gotta be at least 30 fps.  Running 3DFX patch
too!

I just recently bought a Stealth 2 as well. Rendition runs a news server at
news.rendition.com, you should check it out. The problems with Win98 are well
known and affect all Rendition chips, the drivers just aren't ready for prime
time it seems. Heck, the Win95 drivers still have problems too. This card would
have been great had it come out a year or two ago, but the slow 2D and so-so 3D
performance are sending this card back to the store for a refund.
