N2 under Win95 (again)

I know it's a tired subject, but I've been trying to get N2 to run under
Win95 with no luck, and I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas.  I'm
running on a Micron P90 w/ 16 mb RAM and Intergraph Reactor (at least it
was when I bought it).  I've tried configuring using all the default
(auto) memory settings and the closest that I've been able to get is the
sim starts up but the mouse pointer moves R    E    A    L    L    Y
slow, if at all; and if I do manage to get on the track, everything locks
up.  If anyone has a similar setup and has got the thing to run I would
certainly appreciate any help.  Thanks.

Chris,
I had a similar problem, and mine was due to memory. I had my bus speed
overclocked and the EDO memory I had wasn't fast enough and it would
hang the system after a minute or two. When I returned the bus to 66mhz
it worked fine. Just needed better memory. You didn't mention if yours
was overclocked or not so I'm not sure if this will help, but I thought
I'd tell ya anyway

You are bordering on not enough memory.  While 16meg is suffecient in
DOS, I doubt that you have enough to keep it afloat in Win95.  Are you
running the latest patched version?  If so you might want to make sure
you are using the -4 switch when running nasrend.exe.

Also I found that the only way I could run the dma version in Win95 was
to set the MS-DOS protected mode memory (DPMI) to the maximum amount,
16384.  This did the trick for me with the patched version of N2.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.  Looks like I'll need to make a trip to da "hardware"
store for some more memory.  Appreciate the responses.
