pit stop with shifting to reverse, up into fifth, and off you may go
again, i.e., shift-R is permitted but only with this penalty.
The problem is to control the participants' rule compliance. There may
be some cheaters around who do a quick shift-R after spinning beyond
the curb to re-join the race without pitting afterwards.
We tried the Replay Analyzer, however, it only detects shift-Rs
pressed for on-track repairs after damages to the car. Any serious
driver glitch corrected by shift-R that did not damage the car remains
unnoticed.
The only thing you can do is to have a look at suspicious lap times of
the drivers and replay that lap -- a sickening task with 15 drivers!
Is there any reliable detection tool available?
Cheers
Jens
