rec.autos.simulators

I just re-loaded Death Track Racing(Rollcage 2), and it gets stuck at the menu.
 No mouse pointer to select anything, and the arror keys don't work.  I've hit
all the keys, but I can't get the selection bar to move.  In other words, I
can't play it.  Hitting ESC sends the bar to 'exit' but nothing executes it.
The only way out is ctrl-alt-delete and End Task.  I had this problem when I
first got it a few years back, but I was able to figure something out.  Damned
if I can remember what it was.  I found a patch to download, but no good.
Help?

Are you using Win2000 or WinXP? If so, and the older game was designed to
run on Win98, then you might have to set the 'Compatibility Mode' to the
older operating system. To set this, right-click on the game .EXE or a
shortcut to it, chose Properties and click on the 'Compatibility' tab.

Doh!  Sorry, forgot to mention I'm running win98se.  As I said, I got it to
work ONCE, but that was before a hard drive crash.
