The change had nothing at all to do with the game and everything to do
with licensing agreements. Think about it.

The reason they had no time to do anything can be summed up in three
words.  Tony freakin' George.  They had to change the package as
NOTHING licensed by CART can carry the Indy banner now.  So it was,
pull the product or change the box.  What would you do?

Sorry, but where have you been?  The fact that Papy was repackaging ICR2
as CART has been well documented here ... groan ...  It's obvious that
Papy abandoned ICR2 a long time ago because there are a LOT of updates
that could be made ...  including 3dfx or at least d3d support...

I picked up CART Racing, mainly for the Rendition version, as I bought a
Stealth II card.  Managed to get it working, there's a thread here about it,
but the in-car view is quite screwy IN THE CAR.  Outside the car it's
 gawgeous!!

I had the same problem as Jeff, as I went with installing through W95, which
automatically puts ALL 3 versions on your system.  I was waiting for a
menu.... *sigh* This is really stupid guys.  However, if you read this post
you can find out that if you just quit to DOS and navigate to the \DOS dir on
the CD, each DOS version has a DOS install routine too, which is helpful to
know AHEAD of time *sigh* again.

Lastly, I have to agree that the book is worth the price of admission.  It's
fun to read and if you're not a master of setups already, you'll probably
learn a thing or three.  Even if you don't agree with Steve Smith's methods,
the book will rekindle your passion for this sim.  He seems to know his stuff,
and has a lot of interesting bits about the sim vs. reality, things that
weren't modeled, and why things happen... For me, it's worth the cost.

Personally, I think Papyrus has gone as far as they need to with
their ICR series.  I say let them concentrate on new projects instead
of subtly tweaking an already good product.  Like, perhaps, speeding
up the development of Grand Prix Legends.  By the way, does anyone
know which tracks will be modelled in GPL?

Yes....the tracks that were applicable for the 1967 season.
They include Kyalami, Monaco, Spa (the long track), Nurburgring (the
original 20+ km), Mosport, Watkins Glen, Zandvoort, Le mans (Bugatti
circuit), Monza (without chicanes), Silverstone.
