N1 modem racing problem. HELP!!!

by Darrell E. Phipp » Tue, 25 Nov 1997 04:00:00

I am a N1 racing rookie and a computer rookie as well and am having a
problem making a modem connection with my racing partner.  When we
hook-up my partner dials and I answer.  The screen says a connection has
been made (without the phone icon on the screen)  The screen makes it to
a prompt saying SENDING TRACK INFORMATION.  Here is where the problem
begins (I think).  After a couple of minutes with this prompt we lose
any connection we had between our modems.  I am at a loss for what the
prblem is and my partner knows less about computers than I do.  If
anyone could walk me through this procedure I would greatly appreciate
it.
To top it all off I finally got the nerve to try out HAWAII and get
a message that it is getting the plug pulled very soon.  I have had no
problems making a connection with HAWAII and that is really adding to my
curiosity about the problem with my connection with my partner.
MODEM INFO: Mine is a : US Robotics Sportster 56K
My partner has a Packard HELL (I mean Bell)
33.6/28.8
Please help.  Hawaii has me hooked on modem racing against real
opponents.
Thanks.
