Downing it right now, but after seeing what happened after my post
about F1 2000, I won't comment on warez versions anymore.
I use warez versions to test a game. I think we all got a good view
about the positive and negative aspects of F1 2000, people with less
than a PII 200 shouldn't even consider buying it because they hardly
can run the game with full AI.

But I think the talking about warez versions got a little bit out of
hand here. My point of view is fairly simple:
After we've simple been cheated with 'sims' like Sos37, Lemans and F1
99, it's not more than logical that we try a warez version before we
buy a game. But they way some people talk about warez versions,
wanting the music and intro addons, I don't think they intend to use
the warez version only for testing.

If you like a game, the folks who made it simply DESERVE it that you
buy the game as soon as it is out! Just as the guys behind Sos 37, F1
99 etc. DON'T deserve it to sell lots of games. Let them learn to make
decent games instead of ripping us off with great promises and bad
games.

For me it is treating the subject with a degree of subtlety.

A post "I have just played F1-2000..." seems ok. Posts requesting warez
sites & referring to sites is not what I would expect to see on RAS - which
is what it has grown into.

This way we get the useful feedback whilst retaining a degree of
responsibility within the group IMHO.

i think it's perfectly ok for you to give us info about any sim / game that
comes your way.

That's the purpose of this group.

Talking about the warez releases should be allowed here IMO, but we should
stop posting Warez URL's even if someone asks for them.

That's NOT the purpose of this group

(there's always ICQ or private email if you have to)

when you get the opportunity to test NFS5, please post your first
impressions like you did with F1-2000.
Although have to disagree with you about F1-2000 doesn't mean that I don't
want to read your opinion. If you have  read this newsgroup for a some time,
you might remember that I once wrote a tiny review of the NFS4 class
release, and it was pretty positive. I still think it's a good game (not a
sim). So keep those posts coming :o)

Alex

Well ok then, a very short review of NFS5 (I have a league race at the
Ring coming up in 10 minutes):

It's NFS4 with (even) better graphics, much better physics (no GPL
ofcourse), but in NFS5 you can even lose control of the car!

Some very refreshing career modes: Become a test driver for Porsche,
and make manouvres that you didn't even dare to dream of in Driver, or
a Porsche history mode, earn money and upgrade to newer Porsche cars.

The fps is absolutely stunning, with all details set to the max, on my
PII 450 Voodoo II SLI it runs as beautiful as I could wish.

Graphics are gorgeous as I said, driving at the Cote d'Azur (or how do
you spell that) was stunning. Lots and lots of little details that
give the game as a whole a very polished look.

If you like NFS4, absolutely buy (that's b-u-y) this one, you won't be
disappointed. I'm sure you'll agree with me on this one :)

Or, for that matter, spend the time and effort DLing even a demo.  I
got a loud and clear message to stick to GP2.  I, for one, appreciate you
taking the time to give previews.

GOD who cares. churchi is like the *** supporter of all things i have seen
mostly all of the links are ***

ANYWAYS

lets put warez behind our backs and talk racing.
HOW ABOUT INSTANT DEATH on GPL.
thats a funny topic. lol send your replays.
or how and where you won first time on a simulation.

Think about how much money EA, PAPY have lost for making such great
simulations. FOR WHAT. Them to be stolen. C'mon people is that the way we are.
This terrible? lets just give them a break and buy the games AND NOT STEAL
THEM.

Agree, it's one thing to circumvent a licensing issue <g>, quite another to
actively encourage loss of revenue.

An additional comment about NFS5 -- the version I got to review was an
alpha and pretty buggy.  This is probably the warez version as well.

It also expires ten days after you install it.  It would be a HUGE
download considering what you get from it and I really wouldn't
recommend it.

If you liked NFS4, you'll like NFS5 -- it's pretty much the same thing
with a few tweaks.  Read my review linked in the note above -- it
tells you what you need to know.
