F1 2000 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

by Falcon2 » Sat, 25 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I just got my copy of F1 2000 about 5 hours ago, and I have to say this
game really sucks big time! First of I have a P3 500 128 meg ram, Nivida
TNT 2 ultra and a Voodoo 2, and even with half of the graphic options
turned off it still runs like a slide show. I would love to know what
type of computer they designed this game. Not only that but even when
the graphics are turned all on it still looks and feels crappy, F1
Racing by UBI was way better graphicly and simulation wise. Ea can sure
make a good Hockey and soccer game, but they really really need some
serious help in the racing area. This game doesn't have any feeling of
an F1 race, none what so ever. This game is going back to software etc
in the mourning, guess I'll go back to GP2 and wait for GP3.

Falcon26, I see where you use Win2000:

I use Win98SE, Falcon26,  and on my PIII-600, with 'half the graphics options off',
it certainly is not a 'slide show'.

Maybe its your choice of non-*** operating systems?

Do you run Win2000, like Falcon26 does?
FYI, Win2000 isn't supported by F1-2000.

Actually I used it on my Windows 98 SE system I formatted my computer and put Window 98 SE on it,
just for F1 2000, and boy was that a mistake I think GP2 looks better than F1 2000 and it certainly
plays 10 times better.

It is a good thing you are able to return the software.  I feel sorry for
the people that bought it and are stuck with this piece of junk.  The
smartones tried the warez version first.

Once again, don't take this post as the "last say" on F1 2000.

I raced Multiplayer lastnight for 4 hours with 4 mates joining me
(Australia) with 2 from Canada).

The connection was amazing.. and we had some of the best racing I've ever
had  (I"ve raced everything online).

Check it out for youself and make up your own mind..  I love it...

On the bottom of the box it says:

"Windows NT and Windows 2000 are not supported"

So if you're using it in Win2k, it probably wont run the best.

F1 2000 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

by Lorne Glustei » Sun, 26 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Athlon 750/ TNT2U/Win98 here ...and it runs great on my system.... just as
good as Unreal Tourney at the same res\detail level... although F1-2000
works a million times better than UT online. One thing was pointed out here
that I find true and I think is worth mentioning again. With how bad the AI
are in F1-2000 you will not get the feel of being in a "real" F1 race in the
same way you get that feeling in GP2 or F1Rs... But if this NIGHTMARE AI
issue is fixed I believe F1-2000 will become a fantastic "all around sim"
(IMO - one of the best ever). If not... I`m still going to have the time of
my life with it... racing online.

All the best,
Lorne

It says that on the box, but that's probably because their techies don'y
know anything about it!  It runs just the same in W2K as it does in W98, and

switched on EXCEPT when there are a lot of other cars around - then it is

All they need to do is fix the FF and the AI!

Hi Falcon,
I can sence how frustrated you are, and considering all you have gone
through I dont blame you (although I never would have tried to get this game
running on Win2K). I think you must have some sort of setup problem with
your system. There is no way on earth that "GP2 looks better than
F1-2000"....  this tells me something [must] be wrong with your system.
When you say: "and it certainly  plays 10 times better" .... If you are
talking about the much more realistic AI  in GP2 then I would agree.... but
if you are talking about frame rate issues, all I can say is that GP2 on my
P166MMX system ran FAR worse than F1-2000 runs on my current Athlon 750
system. If you were planning on getting into F1-2000 online.... I would look
for some answers to your graphic\performance probs before you return the
game. This game works fantastic online.

All the best,
Lorne

Nonsense...   runs quite well here.  Win2k, dual celeron 550s, 384Mb, TNT1
(3.81 drivers)  My only complaint is the graphics do not match the
screenshots I've seen.  It seems the bilinear filtering is waaay to blurry..
and with it off its Jaggy-City.

Dents.

ps.  A funny thing of note is, the bottom of my box has the sticker that
says "NFS Porsche Unleased System Requirements".   Guess they ran out of
F12K stickers.

I'm not one to reply to my own posts, but after reading a bit on this NG, I
decided to try 1024x768.  That's right....  I've only had the game a few
hours, and it never crossed my mind to try it at a higher resolution.

Guess what?   absolutely no difference in framerate (smooth as buttah), but
lo and behold...    the graphix look just like the screenshots...   so I
"take it back".

Dents.

Sal, I suspect you have a system, driver or configuration problem
if you get a "slideshow" at "half detail" as falcon26 stated he does.

Your system is faster than my P3-600/V3 and I get 20-40fps at
1024x768 at ~ 1/2 - 3/4 detail.
