GPL Qualifying

by GRUd » Sun, 21 Mar 1999 04:00:00

I've had the game about a month now and I haven't seen this problem mentioned

Milenium/Monstor Voodoo1, Sound Blaster Live Value and an AMC game card. With
most details off I get 36fps in training and 36 most of  the time in a race
with 5 AI cars.  Now, here's the problem:  I can race all day long in training
and everythings OK.  In practice/qualifying (intermediate short) I can only run
3 or 4 laps before I get the message "this program has performed an illegal
operation and will be shut down".  If I save the qualifying, I can complete the
intermediate short race.  It seems I only have this problem in qualifying.
I've reinstalled the game with no improvement.  Many things in my computer have
been upgraded, but I still have the old origional memory and a very old vesion
of WIN 95.  Could those be a factor?  This is very frustrating as it took me a
long time just to get to this point with GPL.  Sorry for the long post, but I
wanted to try to provide details.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

Sounds like you are running out of memory. Window takes a bunch, GPL
takes more and then the growing replay file puts you over the top. If you've
got the memory slots left another 32 megs will do wonders for you. IMHO

Good luck
