GPL problem with calibrating Thrustmaster Formula T2

Has anyone had any problems assigning acceleration and braking to their
pedals using the T2? Better yet, does anyone know how to solve the
problem?

Regards and many fast laps,

Eric Chan.

No problem, I use the T2 without adapter as my selection...

Hmmm, sorry Eric cannot help you? But I'm using an old T2 here fine
with no problems in GPL? Does your have an adaptor? if it does try
using with and without the adaptor, and make sure it is calibrated ok
under win9x?

Try d/l'ing the Thrustmaster control panel to help calibrating (from
the Thrustmaster website).

Is the wheel setup and calibrated properly in the Windows Game
Controllers control panel?

If you are using Direct Input, you must setup and calibrate your T2 in
the Windows control panel applet.  Then you must successfully calibrate
your T2 inside GPL, then you should be able to click on Gas and press
the pedal to assign gas.  Same for brake.

If you are using Generic input, calibrate all axes in GPL then click on
Gas, press gas pedal, and the same for brake.

If you can not successfully calibrate an axis in GPL, then you can't use
it as brake or accelerator.

If you are running Win98 you'll HAVE to install - and use - the ProPanel
software.

Yeah for some reason at first the thing would assign one pedal then
automatically unassign the other. The go around I found for it was totally
by accident. First I clicked on brakes to assign that with the pedals, but
didn't release it fully when I went on to assign the gas pedal. So her's the
trick, assign brake first,  keep the pedal about halfway engaged, then
select the gas assignment button and while keeping the brake halfway in
depress the gas pedal both should then be assigned on the >1 <1 axis. it
worked for me hope it works for you..

Yep. Someone also recommended propanel which, like the Windows game
controller, calibrated my T2 fine. The problem is in assigning acceleration
and braking within GPL. Assigning one would automatically unassign the other
and vice versa.

Mea***er?
I am using Win98 and ProPanel but am still having the same problems ie,
assigning brake would leave the other unassigned and vice versa.

Did you select Thrustmaster Formula T1/T2 without adapter?

Michael,
What is direct and generic input?

Pat, that's the exact problem I'm having.
Thanks for your tip. Hope it works for me too...using a FlightStick feels like
driving a George Jetson mobile but on the ground.

This procedure works for me too. I'm having another problem, however.
Acceleration is not functioning properly. Simply put, there isn't any. When I
upshift out of second gear the RPM buildup is way too slow. It isn't the gear
ratios since I can set them any way that I want and it doesn't change. When I
switch over to a direct input joystick the accleration is fine ( too fast!)

The same wheel works perfectly in GP2. I do notice that the accelerator does
not go to full travel during calibration inside GPL. The brake travel does.
Possibly my accelerator pot isn't right, but why is it ok in GP2?

It sounds like you may have dirty pots in the pedal unit.  I would try
cleaning them with a "tuner/switch" cleaner (find it at an electronics
supply store).  As the T2 has the pedals on the same axis, it would
appear that they are not completely calibrating.  This maybe caused by a
dirty pot which can cause a "spike" and throw the calibration off.
