Help for Modem setup ICR II

by J.D. » Fri, 04 Apr 1997 04:00:00

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to get connected to a friend with icr II,
but witout sucess (and the manual doesn't help me).
We figured out how we think it's supposed to be. The caller is supposed
to "Join race", right? and the receiver "Sponsor".
When I try to "Join" (call) I get a error message "No connection" with
the following transcript
--------------
Dialing...
AT
AT&F

OK
AT&K0&M0

OK
ATDT

ERROR

----------
I've made a new connection with my friends phone#, but I get the same
result even if I don't change the connection for box in the
communication dialog. (Is that the problem? that the modem never
receives the phone# it's supposed to dial?)
I have a USR Sportster 28.8 with the init "AT&F^M~~~AT&K0&M0^M" and I'm
using win95.
I'm probably doing something fundamentally wrong but since I'm pretty
new to all this communication stuff I/we need some help.
Please E-mail me private at

if you have any info/help.

Thanx
/J.D.

Help for Modem setup ICR II

As near as I can tell, you haven't entered the phone # and then selected
who you are dialing.

You have to create an entry in the Phonebook and then select a person as
the "current" person.  Then, you choose Dial while they choose Answer.

It looks like you just didn't pick a person because the ATDT (which dials
the modem) is not followed by a phone #.  Usually, it will look like
this:

ATDT15553849

Hope this helps!
